Flight over the Châteaux of the Loire Valley
One of the most incredible experiences on offer in Val d’Amboise is a flight over the finest Châteaux of the Loire Valley. Every day from spring onwards on the banks of the Loire in Amboise, magnificent multicoloured hot-air balloons take flight in a peaceful silence, floating over the city. This incredible, enchanting spectacle is a simply unforgettable experience for their passengers. Between the tips of the castles and the clouds, their baskets seem to glide smoothly through the air, allowing you to calmly admire the landscapes. All year long, helicopter or ULM outings also invite you to fly over the iconic castles of Val de Loire, the forests, the vineyards, or simply the incredible meanders of the Loire itself.
Our tip: opt for an outing at sunrise to enjoy the enchanting atmosphere offered by the mists of the Loire, and the gentle awakening of the city and its monuments.
Mezzo Aperitifs at the Château
If you want to discover the Châteaux of the Loire Valley through an unusual experience, why not join us for one of our Mezzo Aperitifs at the castle. All year long, the Tourist Office books out the parks of the finest and most intimate castles for a limited number of visitors. Live music and tasting of local products sourced through very short supply chains invite you to immersive yourself in the Touraine art of living, set amid some charming gardens and extraordinary parks
Our tip: Apéros Mezzo dates are likely to be added to the program throughout the year.
The most intimate Loire
Imagine stretching out on the hot sand of a bank of the Loire. You are here, in Amboise, on the tip of the Île d’Or, an unspoilt space reserved for those in the know. This is the site chosen by the Tourist Office to introduce you to our local cuisine, charcuterie, wines and cheeses. Above you fly a few hot-air balloons, while the sun slowly sets on the horizon. No far away, a heron or an egret glides overhead. This exclusive experience: our sunset aperitifs. For freshwater sailors, you can also enjoy this experience on board a toue – a traditional wooden boat used by ancient Loire sailors.
Immersion in the vineyards
For lovers of wines and oenological experiences, Val d’Amboise invites you to dive into the vital work of our winegrowers. A host of wine estates make up the Touraine-Amboise appellation. Two estates offer experiences to deepen your discovery of Touraine cuisine. Les Caves Ambacia in Amboise welcomes you to their cave gallery for a dive into the history of tuffeau quarries, before a tasting based on the exploration of old Loire vintages. At the Clos de la Richardière, Christophe Galland and his team offer a walk through the wooded estate before a tasting of wines and products from the family farm. And for the most daring among you, some estates offer immersions alongside those who work the wines during key moments in the life of the vineyard: harvesting, pruning, pressing and more.
