Between royal lands and wild waters

Capital of the Turon people since the 4th century B.C., Amboise became home to the Kings of France during the Renaissance. During this walk, you’ll discover the marvellous landscapes of the Loire Valley, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Between two waters

Amboise takes its name from its unique geographical location (ambo aqua: between the two waters) at the confluence of the Amasse and Loire rivers. This “urban” tour takes you to the heights between the Loire and Amasse rivers.

Departing from the church of Saint-Ouen-les-Vignes, this trail takes you through the valley of the Ramberge, a picturesque little river flowing down from the plateau to the royal valley of the Loire. Forests, fields and vineyards make up a beautiful landscape. Enjoy a pleasant picnic in Saint-Ouen or at point 5 of the hike.
