Starting from Amboise, six marked bike loops take you into the heart of the Touraine countryside, from châteaux to villages, forests to vineyards. From Amboise, follow the Loire à Vélo route to Tours and Chaumont-sur-Loire, two of the Loire Valley’s heritage highlights.

The Tourist Office has put together five unmissable cycling routes in Amboise!

Among the most unmissable bike routes in Amboise is, of course, the Loire à Vélo. Head towards Tours and enjoy a safe 27km route. Alternating between the banks of the Loire and vineyard paths, it offers a condensed view of the beauty of the Loire Valley. From the Royal Castle of Amboise to the center of Tours, allow about 2 hours.
The Royal Route lives up to its name. It’s no surprise that it has been a favorite route for visitors for many years. Just imagine: you start by riding along the Loire River to the edge of the forest. Then you enjoy 8 km of smooth bike path under a canopy of greenery. Pass through two villages and you’ll reach the banks of the Cher River. Soon, the majestic Château de Chenonceau rises up before you. The return route winds its way through hamlets and forest until you arrive back in Amboise.
This easy loop winds around the villages of Nazelles-Négron and Noizay for 12km. It can also be accessed from Amboise train station by following signpost no. 12, adding an extra 3km. It is a beautiful bike route through vineyards, hillsides, and troglodytic hamlets.
This bike route does not start in Amboise but runs between Monteux and Cangey, through the vineyards. A very pretty route on the border of Loir-et-Cher, between hillsides and typical villages.
1. Loire à Vélo - Amboise-Tours
